Cognitive Diary is a privacy-first self-reflection app that combines structured CBT journaling with guided breathing exercises in one calm, minimal space.
It was built for people who want clarity without noise and structure without pressure. Instead of free-form notes, the app offers guided formats inspired by cognitive-behavioral techniques. You can break down situations into triggers, thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and alternative responses. There are structured tools for belief reframing (ABCDE model), automatic thought records, anxiety monitoring, emotion regulation, behavioral analysis, exposure tracking (with SUDS levels), mood tracking with simple trend insights, self-criticism reframing, and activity planning with predicted versus actual outcomes.
In moments of stress, you can switch to interactive breathing exercises. The app includes box breathing (4-4-4-4), 4-7-8 breathing, resonance breathing, deep calm (4-2-6), mindful breathing, and lion’s breath. Sessions are animated and saved locally so you can build consistency over time.
Privacy is a core principle. All sensitive data is encrypted locally using AES-GCM, and the encryption key is stored securely on your device. Most features work fully offline, and no account is required unless you want PRO features or cross-device sync. Even when sync is enabled, your data remains encrypted - the cloud cannot decrypt your entries. You can also set a PIN lock for additional protection.
The app includes built-in mental health questionnaires such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, PSS, and K10, with additional advanced assessments available in PRO.
Cognitive Diary does not provide medical advice or diagnoses. It’s not a therapy replacement. It’s a structured, private space designed to help you reflect more clearly, regulate your state, and better understand your internal patterns.
No social feed. No gamification. No pressure.
Just a calm, encrypted space to think clearly.

Hey everyone 👋 I built Cognitive Diary as a structured CBT journaling app with guided breathing and real local encryption. Calm, minimal, and private by design. I’d truly appreciate your feedback.
