Hi
Adding bulk feeds:
I forgot to add the bulk feed uploader in the images if your a pro user it will allow you to use OPMl file and it will add the files category structure to the category manager automatically. (Possible free feature in the future).
Broken feeds handling:
Rss Kit has a feed validator as part of the tools https://rsskit.co.uk/validator.php this helps filter dead feeds before you add them to the reader.
Backend returns error: true for feeds that fail to fetch
1. Client tracks consecutive failures per feed in localStorage
2. Amber dot: 2-3 consecutive failures
3. Red dot: 4+ consecutive failures
4. Dot shows next to feed name with tooltip showing failure count
5. Success resets the counter
Users see amber/red dots → click feed → can visit original link to verify → delete in category manager if dead.
API:
API access is available for Pro users via our browser extension. We're considering a public REST API with token auth for third-party integrations.
How RSS Kit differentiates:
Most RSS readers are just aggregators you bring your own feeds and read them. We're building something more:
1. Discovery first: Curated feed directory so users can find quality content, not just manage what they already know about
2. Creator tools: Publishers can create and host their RSS feed directly on RSS Kit, reach our audience, and grow subscribers
3. Retention focus: Onboarding flow, email digests, feed health indicators. We care about keeping users engaged, not just signing them up
4. Simpler: Not trying to be everything. Clean reader, works on mobile, no feature bloat
5. Community potential: Feed ratings, comments, recommendations from other users (roadmap)
The vision is less "RSS client" and more content discovery platform powered by RSS
