About TheRelay

If you've ever tried to access IP cameras outside your local network, you know the options aren't great. Port forwarding exposes RTSP directly to the internet - unencrypted video, open ports, camera credentials at risk. VPNs are painful to set up and maintain. And if you want to plug your streams into an AI pipeline, it gets even worse. TheRelay fixes this. We built a lightweight agent that sits on your LAN, pulls RTSP streams from your cameras locally, and pushes them outbound over encrypted SRT to a secure cloud endpoint. Because the connection is outbound, there's zero firewall or router configuration needed. Your streams become accessible from anywhere - without exposed ports, without sharing credentials, without headaches. How it works: Install the agent on any machine on your LAN (Windows, Linux, macOS) Point it at your cameras or let ONVIF auto-discovery find them for you Get secure cloud endpoints you can use from anywhere Your camera credentials never leave your network. Access is controlled through tokens you can scope per camera or per consumer - and revoke instantly. Cloud endpoints serve RTSP, WebRTC, HLS, SRT, and RTMP, so it plugs into whatever you're already using - media players, NVRs, or AI/ML pipelines for object detection, people counting, and license plate recognition. Works with any RTSP-compatible camera. Whether you're a security integrator managing multiple client sites, an AI vendor that needs real camera feeds, or a business owner who just wants to check cameras remotely - TheRelay makes it simple and secure.

Remote camera stream access from anywhere is genuinely useful for home monitoring, small businesses, and any setup where you need eyes on a space without being there physically.

Hi everyone! Started as an internal tool - remote camera access without sending a technician, and letting AI vendors test on real streams via tokens. Worked so well we made it public.
