Winder

Winder is a side project that became something more. As a watch collector, I’ve always loved the ritual of setting my watches down to the second. After seeing someone on TikTok waiting for a clock to tick over to set theirs, I thought: “what if I built an app just for that?” I started with the basics, just a super accurate atomic time clock. But the App Store rejected it for being too simple. So I kept going. I added smooth seconds-hand animations, customizable backgrounds inspired by iconic watches, synchronized sound cues, and eventually rewrote the time sync engine using UDP + NTP for < 20ms accuracy. Along the way, I learned to animate with React Native Skia, generate sound with ElevenLabs, build better UI in Figma, and even edited my first demo video. And now, Winder is live. It’s free, simple, and made with love for anyone who enjoys the beauty of watches, especially mechanical watch enthusiasts.
