About Pickipack

Built a packing app because I got frustrated packing for a family ski trip — and accidentally turned it into a real SaaS. A few months ago my family was heading out on a ski trip: me, two kids, and my partner. Packing turned into chaos. Not because packing itself is hard — but because once multiple people are involved, it becomes a coordination problem: * Who’s bringing what? * What’s missing? * What did we pack twice? * What’s a single point of failure? I tried using existing apps and reminders, but they all felt built for solo checklists. They worked fine until the trip involved more than one person. So I built **Pickipack**. It started as a personal side project to solve a very immediate (and recurring) problem, but it slowly turned into a real product. Pickipack is a smarter packing app for real trips — whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with a full group. Core ideas: → reusable trip templates (ski trips, weekends away, business travel) → shared packing lists → bag planning (what goes in which bag) → and my favorite feature: **Insights** — a smart engine that catches likely packing mistakes before you leave. Examples: * “Only one 2-person tent for 4 travelers.” * “Trip starts tomorrow and nobody has packed a passport.” * “You packed 4 phone chargers.” That “aha” moment — where the app catches something you would have missed — is what I’m most excited about. A few technical notes for fellow builders: * built with React + TypeScript * backend on SST (which I’ve really enjoyed) * launched on web first (mobile web works great when saved to home screen) * free tier + simple €2/month premium Biggest lesson so far: AI didn’t just help me code faster — it helped me *finish*. I’ve started plenty of projects over the years. Shipping has always been the hard part. This is one of the first times I’ve actually taken something all the way to launch. Now I’m at the fun/scary stage: trying to turn a personal tool into a real business. Would genuinely love feedback on two things: 1. Does the value proposition feel clear? 2. If you were launching a small consumer app today, what growth channel would you bet on first? You can check it out here: https://www.pickipack.com Thanks 🙏

Group trips don’t fail because of bad planning - they fail because of blind spots. Pickipack is a smart packing app that shows what your group is missing and what might become a problem
