WODMotions is the first wearable designed specifically for functional fitness. It tracks heart rate, pacing, movement and power during real workouts — data that was previously only available in lab settings. Think of it as an advanced heart-rate monitor that understands functional movements and turns training into measurable performance!
WODMotions started from a very real and frustrating problem: in functional fitness, athletes and coaches have almost no objective performance data beyond basic heart rate and time. Unlike runners or cyclists, it’s nearly impossible to measure pacing, movement quality, or power during real functional workouts outside of a lab.
This problem was especially close to home for Mariah, our co-founder. While doing her MSc and later PhD in Sports Technology at KTH — and coaching functional fitness athletes — she was constantly switching between research, training, and trying to support her athletes with tools that simply didn’t exist. So she decided to build one.
Through the pre-incubator of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Mariah met the rest of the founding team. Together, we took her research in movement analysis, combined it with our engineering and product experience, and turned it into what is now WODMotions: a wearable sensor designed specifically to track performance in functional fitness.
What started as a tool for Mariah and her athletes is now something we’re excited to share with coaches and athletes everywhere.
Our goal is simple: bring real, evidence-based performance data to functional training — finally, outside the lab and into the gym. We’d love your feedback, questions, and ideas !
